Parkrun #11: Brixworth Country Park

Published on 8 November 2024 at 14:03

10/06/2023: The first Parkrun outside of Bognor Regis was in the beautiful setting of Brixworth Country Park, Northamptonshire. Being from a Northamptonshire village, it was lovely making the short journey over to one of my local Parkrun’s and to say it is Picturesque is an understatement. The views across the resovoir are un matchable and you run about 4K along the reservoir prior to then heading off through the country park for the last KM. The course itself isn’t the easiest with a few hills near the end and it being a bit more of a trail route, but it is still a very enjoyable run that is well marshalled and has some very enthuastic people manning the turn around point!

My friend Lee, who I went to uni with happens to also live very close to me, so we checked this one out together and it was nice to cheer eachother on after seeing eachother near the turn point. This event also made appreciate parkrun events for what they truly are as my mum also came to it. She finished her Park walk in around 50 minutes and I couldn’t have been prouder.

I completed this one in 23:08 and Lee was just behind with 23:12, coming 7th and 8th Respectively. A really tough one in the heat but some beautiful views that we had to get more of a few weeks down the line.

An incredibly lovely incentive is the free parking before 11am and also a Parkrun discount at the Park café too.
