PARKRUN #29: University of Northampton

02/12/2023: I think this is the coldest, if not certainly one of the coldest Parkrun;s I have done. Lee and I had our Theatre Company's Christmas do the night before, so weren't exactly feeling sprightly aha! But we wanted to try a new Parkrun in our local area, the University of Northampton Parkrun.

It was only the 17th edition of this Parkrun, but it was already so well organised and well marshalled. Incredibly well attended considering the weather and how new it was. I have to say, our uni is very picturesque and pretty to look at on a cold Saturday morning. The start and finish are on the uni grounds, but between them you go over the Uni bridge into Becket's Park (named after the infamous Thomas Becket), of which you lap 3 times. The terrain is really nice, all on paths and incredibly lovely surface to run on, particularly in the section within the Uni. There is also one section (that you run 3 times) going along the bank of the River Nene. A really lovely run to start your morning with.

I will say though, in terms of elevation, it is in no way the easiest run. A hill that by the 3rd time you reach it can be very grueling, as well as the bridge having an incline too, so I wouldn't say it was a PB course, but it's a nice course.

I have done this one 3 times to date. A Christmas day one within that too which was a really beautiful morning and due to the inclines I wouldn't always choose to do it however when I do, it's always a good one. There was no cafe open the last time I went, however I do believe that the Uni have since opened their cafe which is a plus point!
