A full on Month of Parkruns was had this month, with the mornings getting warmer week on week it's beautiful to get out first thing on Saturday and enjoy the outdoors.
01/02/2025 was the first of the month and I went to my usual parkrun, Northampton. I had felt quite good last week but with the ice i'd not fully been able to go for it, so wanted to put that right this week. My friend was pacing 20 minutes and I went off with him before hitting a bit of a surge. I wasn't intending to go quite as full out as I did, but when that feeling hits and you just feel good and then gain a second wind you have to just see what happens. We managed to hold on and get a PB of 19:14, which was a beautiful welcome surprise.
The week after we went back to MK parkrun as we were doing the indoor skydiving and football over there. I have to say, i'd forgotten how congested the start is and unfortunately there were people starting way to far forward than they probably should have been. Hampered lots at the start along with other runners too so didn't fully get into the groove until maybe a KM in, still managed a sub 20 with 19:50 and some really great volunteers at MK as before. Would heavily recommend some indoor skydiving too ;).
On 15/02/2025 I went back to Northampton, hoping to aim for a similar time to my last PB. The run itself was interesting, the front runners took off like the Red Arrows aha, then there was quite a gap to myself, it was a lovely morning for it, slight bit of rain so nobody really got too warm. Like the last Northampton parkrun, it just felt like a nice constant wind, I did tire right at the end but by then most of the work is done. Very happy to say that my 2025 goal of a sub 19 parkrun was just about clinched with an 18:53. I genuinely couldn't believe that had happened but was over the moon with it.
My last Parkrun of the month was at Salcey Forest Parkrun. I hadn't done it in over a year so wanted to get my time down and run it again. Was a little slippy under foot, being a trail course, but was again a really lovely day for it. I managed a 2nd place which I was not expecting at all got got my time down to 20:14 there so was happy with that.
